Everyone's Entitled to a Good Scare By: Sasha Slaughter

Well hey there wanksters that cash in nickels that you stole from the soda machine!!! Did you miss me slimes?? Of course you did! Well I'm back and ready for action. If you've been paying attention and reading our posts like good little freaks, then you'd know that this is 90's horror week. And today I'll be reviewing Halloween H20: 20 Years Later. Yay! Halloween H20 is a 1998 slasher film. It was directed by Steve Miner and written by Robert Zapia and Matt Greenberg. It is the seventh installment in the Halloween series. I know, it's nowhere close to Halloween, but it's a movie from the 90's so deal with it!! Let me tell you a little about the movie.
Twenty years after the events of 1978, the film follows post-traumatic Laurie Strode who lives in constant fear of her murderous brother, Michael Myers, who attempted to kill her many years ago. Fearing for her life, Laurie fakes her own death in hopes that Michael will never find her again. She changes her name to Keri Tate and starts a new life with her son John, as the head mistress of a private school. Keri seems happy on the outside but the tragic events that occurred 20 years ago haunt her everyday, often affecting her parenting abilities and pushing her son further away. Michael eventually finds Keri using a file that he had stolen from where Dr. Loomis lived before his death, and begins stalking the school grounds, hoping to find her. Soon Michael finds Laurie and he intends on finishing what he started some 20 years ago. But this time, Laurie has plans to end the terror once and for all.
*Halloween theme music* Sooo how many Halloweens are there?? Yeesh. Please tell me there aren't anymore after Laurie decapitates Michael...I mean, come on! Unless he magically grew a new head...I'm rambling. Anyway..This movie was ok...there should be a certain point where enough is enough, but ehh for being like 700th Halloween movie, it wasn't bad. Jamie Lee Curtis does an awesome job of jumping right back into the role of Laurie Strode. And LL Cool J added a little comic relief playing a security guard, it added some humor to it. The acting was ok, Michelle Williams got on my nerves, and the blood looked fake...Like I know it's fake, but it looked like water with some red food coloring. EPIC FAIL SPECIAL EFFECTS!!
Overall I'd give Halloween H20 a 3 out of 5. I mean, you just can't say much bad stuff about the Halloween franchise, it's classic and Halloween has to be one of the most influential horror movies of all time. I loves me some Michael Myers!! Although I will say that in some of the Halloween movies, they did some pretty stupid stuff to his character over the years, but whatever. I would watch this movie, and all of the Halloween movies 100 more times...absolute classic and I'd never get tired of them...well maybe at some point I would. Anyway, there you have it. Thanks for stopping by Dead End Horror.

EVERYONE ENJOYS A GOOD SLASHER By: SASHA SLAUGHTER

Well hey there DEH fans that are obsessed with the mutilation of lady parts! Sickos. Yes, it is time once again to have your socks rocked by Zane and I. Can't wait! Although I am sad to report that we won't be talking about the severing of female fun bits. Sorry! We will be talking about slasher films though! Yay! Much better than brutality to the hoo-ha, don't ya think? I do. Anyway, today I'll be giving you a list of my five favorite slasher films. So let's get to it shall we?

5.) HATCHET(2007)- A group of tourists decide to take a haunted swamp tour, and ultimately choose a very new and inexperienced tour guide. Along the way, the group meets a homeless swamp dweller that warns them to stay away from the swamp. Their guide leads them past several abandoned houses, one of which Victor Crowley supposedly lived. Their guide Shawn, tells them about how Victor Crowley's dad went crazy one night and hit him in the face with a hatched while looking at "ghost lights". Marybeth, one of the tourists, reveals that she is the sister and daughter of two people that vanished on one of the tours that Shawn was giving. She tells the real story of Victor Crowley, and how one Halloween a group of kids threw fireworks into his home, and it caught on fire. Victor's dad was trying to use a hatchet to break down the door and accidentally hit Victor in the face. He died from his injuries and she tells them she believes his spirit is back for revenge, and will kill anyone who enters the swamp.
4.) BLACK CHRISTMAS (2006)- Billy Lenz escapes from a mental intuition in 2006 , after being put there in 1991 for disfiguring his sister and brutally murdering his mother and step father (And making cookies from his mothers flesh too). He escapes and begins taunting girls in a Sorority house. He calls the girls and threatens to kill them. Soon after, the girls start dying one by one. When there are only two girls left, Billy and his sister Agnes introduce themselves and attempt to kill the remaining Sorority sisters.
3.) TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (2003)- Archive footage is played of officers investigating the Hewitt home. The officers notice fingernail marks, and human blood and hair embedded into the walls. In 1973 a group of friends on on their way to a Lynard Skynard concert, having just come from Mexico. They meet a distraught hitchhiker who shoots herself in their van, and the group tries to contact the police. They keep getting different stories as to where the sheriff may be. Erin and Kemper go into the woods in search of the house. They find a plantation house deep in the woods and only Erin is allowed to enter and call for help. Tired of waiting, Kemper goes into the house and is attacked by Leatherface, who hits him with a sledgehammer. Eventually Erin's friends are killed and she is kidnapped by the Hewitt family. She tries to escape and avoid the wrath of Thomas "Leatherface" Hewitt and his twisted family.
2.) WRONG TURN (2003)- Medical student Chris Flynn is forced to take a different route on his way to a job interview and ends up in a secluded part of the mountains of West Virginia. He crashes into an SUV parked in the middle of the road. The group of friends tell him they are on a hiking trip and that their tires were punctured by barbed wire on the road. Jessie, Carly, Scott, and Chris decide to go and look for help. They discover a an isolated cabin and go inside for help. In the cabin, the discover various human body parts and miscellaneous objects. The occupants of the cabin return home and the group is forced to hide while three terribly disfigured men enter the cabin. The group notices that one of the men is dragging their friend Francine's body on ground and can only watch in horror as the men butcher and eat her. The group eventually escapes the cabin, but not before the one of them wakes up and sees them leaving. It's a cat and mouse game as Jessie, Carly, Chris, and Scott try desperately to escape the backwoods cannibals.
1.) HALLOWEEN (1978)- On Halloween day in 1963 in the Midwestern town of Haddonfield, Illinois, six year old Michael Myers murders his sister by stabbing her with a kitchen knife. He is then sent to Smith's Grove Sanitarium where he is placed under the care of Doctor Samuel Loomis. Michael soon enters a state of catatonia, and remains that way for fifteen years. Loomis arrives to take Michael to a court hearing when Michael escapes and steals Loomis's car and makes his way back to Haddonfield. Loomis follows Michael, attempting for prevent him from killing again. Teenager Laurie Strode begins to see Michael everywhere, like he is stalking her. Loomis is afraid that Michael will kill again, and stops at nothing to prevent him from doing so.
Nothing like a good slasher, right? I think so too! Anyway, those are a few of my favorites. There are a ton of awesome slasher movies, and I'll be reviewing a few for you this week. Awesome! I'm usually a new school kind of person, but the original Halloween was one of absolute favorites. It's so damn creepy. I love it! But not as much as I love muffins...oh wait..never mind that. =) So anyway, since you're here, don't forget to stop by and check on your good pal Zombie Zane. He'll be giving you a little rundown of what we're doing this week, in case you're curious. And as always,  thanks for stopping by Dead End Horror.

HE'S GONE FROM HERE! THE EVIL IS GONE! By: SASHA SLAUGHTER

Hey there blog stalkers!! Sasha Slaughter here with you for more Halloween themed socks rocking awesomeness...woo! Today I'll be talking about a little movie titled Halloween. No, not the original from 1978, I'm talking Rob Zombie's Halloween from 2007. Halloween is an American slasher film that written, directed, and produced by the one and only Rob Zombie.

It's a remake of the 1978 classic written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. Rob Zombie's re- imagining follows pretty much the same premise as John Carpenter's original, with Michael Myers stalking Laurie and her friends on Halloween night. But in Rob Zombie's version he chose to go a little more in depth into the psyche of Michael Myers and figure out what made him start killing people.

Zombie, working from Carpenters advice to make the film his own, chose to develop the film as both a prequel and a remake at the same time. He wanted to have more original content instead of just redoing the scenes. The film mainly got negative reviews, but despite that the film ended up grossing $80,208,039 world wide, which made it the highest grossing film in the Halloween franchise. So let me tell you a little about the film if you don't already know!

One Halloween night in Haddonfield, Illinois, having already begun to show signs of psychopathic tendencies , ten year old Michael Myers (played by Daeg Faerch) murders a school bully named Wesley, and then goes on to kill his own sister Judith, his mother's boyfriend Ronnie, and his sisters boyfriend Steve and he spares his youngest sister, whom he calls Boo. Soon after one of the longest trials in state history Michael is found guilty of first degree murder and is sent to Smith's Grove- Warren County Sanitarium where he is put under the care of child psychologist Dr. Samuel Loomis.

Michael cooperates with Loomis at first, claiming he has no memory of the killings; and his mother Deborah (played by Sheri Moon Zombie) visits Michael regularly. After a year in the sanitarium Michael becomes fixated on making masks out of papier-mache, and begins to close himself off to everyone, including his mother.

One night when Michael kills a nurse as Deborah is leaving from one of her visits, she can no longer deal with the situation at hand, Deborah goes home and commits suicide. For the next fifteen years, Michael continues making the masks and not speaking to anyone, even Dr. Loomis who is trying to help him. Dr. Loomis, having continued to treat Michael over the years, attempts to move on with his own life and closes Michael's case. Shortly after, while being prepared to be moved to maximum security, Michael escapes Smith's Grove and kills a few of the sanitarium employees, and a truck driver for his clothes, and then heads to Haddonfield. On Halloween night, Michael returns to his old home, now abandoned, and recovers the kitchen knife that he had hidden under the floor boards the night he killed his sister.

Throughout the day on Halloween Laurie (Michael's sister) notices Michael watching her from a distance while she is with her friends Lynda and Annie. That night, she heads to the Doyle residence to watch their son Tommy. Meanwhile, Lynda meets up with her boyfriend Bob at Michael's childhood home. Michael appears and finds them upstairs and murders them, and he goes on to kill Laurie's parents, Mason and Cynthia. Dr. Loomis, having been alerted of Michael's escape, goes to Haddonfield looking for him. Loomis tries to warn Sheriff Brackett that Michael has returned to his home in Haddonfield. Dr. Loomis and the sheriff quickly go to the Strode home, while Loomis explains to Brackett that Laurie Strode is actually Michael's baby sister.

Laurie's friend Annie convinces her to babysit the little girl she is watching named Lindsey Wallace so she can have sex with her boyfriend Paul. Annie and Paul return to the Wallace home and during sex, Michael appears and kills Paul and attacks Annie. After bringing Lindsey home, Laurie finds Annie on the floor, bloodied but alive and calls 911. Laurie is attacked by Michael, who then chases her to the Doyle home. The sheriff and Dr. Loomis hear the 911 call and quickly head to the Wallace residence. Michael finally catches up with Laurie and kidnaps her and takes her back to their childhood home and then..

Aww come on! If you've seen the movie then you know what happens next!! If you haven't, I highly suggest that you do. I thought it was a great remake. Although Rob Zombie's Halloween II was really disappointing, but you should definitely check it out for yourself. I like the fact that Zombie put his own spin on the movie while sticking to alot of the original content. He kind of just freshened it up a bit so to speak. And I also like that he sort of explained the whole mask infatuation that Michael had.

He really added new life to the character of Michael Myers by delving deeper into his psyche and explaining the mask that he wears. Zombie had explained that he wanted Michael to be true to what a real psychopath is really is, and wanted the mask to be a way for Michael to hide himself. Zombie also wanted the reason Myers returns to Haddonfield to be ambiguous. As he explains "was he trying to kill Laurie, or just find her because he loves her?" Well said right???

Zombie also made it a point in the remake to not have Michael drive, as he did in the original when he stole Loomis' car so he could drive back to Haddonfield. And he also wanted the character of Loomis to be more intertwined with Michael Myers. Rob Zombie definitely added more of a background to the story of Myers, creating more original content for film. He also chose to keep the trademark mask and Carpenter's theme song. And filming also took place in the same neighborhood that Carpenter used in the original Halloween. Yay!

More information for you to absorb! Isn't learning fun? Overall I'd give Rob Zombie's Halloween a 4 out of 5. I thought it was a great interpretation of the original and he stayed true and paid a great tribute to John Carpenter. He added some of his original content, including the story of the mask, while staying true to Carpenter's version of the movie.

I own this DVD and I've watched it quite a few times, and I enjoy it more and more every time. It's just a well done movie and I would recommend it to any Halloween dynasty lover or any fan of Rob Zombie's work. That's all I gotta say about that! Now how about you mosey on over and see what Zane's got going on? I'm sure it'll make you randy!! =) And thanks for stopping by Dead End
