Well hey there wanksters that cash in nickels that you stole from the soda machine!!! Did you miss me slimes?? Of course you did! Well I'm back and ready for action. If you've been paying attention and reading our posts like good little freaks, then you'd know that this is 90's horror week. And today I'll be reviewing Halloween H20: 20 Years Later. Yay! Halloween H20 is a 1998 slasher film. It was directed by Steve Miner and written by Robert Zapia and Matt Greenberg. It is the seventh installment in the Halloween series. I know, it's nowhere close to Halloween, but it's a movie from the 90's so deal with it!! Let me tell you a little about the movie.
Twenty years after the events of 1978, the film follows post-traumatic Laurie Strode who lives in constant fear of her murderous brother, Michael Myers, who attempted to kill her many years ago. Fearing for her life, Laurie fakes her own death in hopes that Michael will never find her again. She changes her name to Keri Tate and starts a new life with her son John, as the head mistress of a private school. Keri seems happy on the outside but the tragic events that occurred 20 years ago haunt her everyday, often affecting her parenting abilities and pushing her son further away. Michael eventually finds Keri using a file that he had stolen from where Dr. Loomis lived before his death, and begins stalking the school grounds, hoping to find her. Soon Michael finds Laurie and he intends on finishing what he started some 20 years ago. But this time, Laurie has plans to end the terror once and for all.
*Halloween theme music* Sooo how many Halloweens are there?? Yeesh. Please tell me there aren't anymore after Laurie decapitates Michael...I mean, come on! Unless he magically grew a new head...I'm rambling. Anyway..This movie was ok...there should be a certain point where enough is enough, but ehh for being like 700th Halloween movie, it wasn't bad. Jamie Lee Curtis does an awesome job of jumping right back into the role of Laurie Strode. And LL Cool J added a little comic relief playing a security guard, it added some humor to it. The acting was ok, Michelle Williams got on my nerves, and the blood looked fake...Like I know it's fake, but it looked like water with some red food coloring. EPIC FAIL SPECIAL EFFECTS!!
Overall I'd give Halloween H20 a 3 out of 5. I mean, you just can't say much bad stuff about the Halloween franchise, it's classic and Halloween has to be one of the most influential horror movies of all time. I loves me some Michael Myers!! Although I will say that in some of the Halloween movies, they did some pretty stupid stuff to his character over the years, but whatever. I would watch this movie, and all of the Halloween movies 100 more times...absolute classic and I'd never get tired of them...well maybe at some point I would. Anyway, there you have it. Thanks for stopping by Dead End Horror.
